Suffolk County Police today arrested a Bay Shore woman for selling marijuana products to minors at a Sayville store this afternoon.

In response to numerous community complaints, Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation into the sale of cannabis products, vapes and e-cigarettes during which ten businesses were checked for compliance.

Of the ten businesses, one business, Island Hookah Sayville, located at 291 West Main St., was found to be in non-compliance.

Ruth Vargas, 31, of Bay Shore, was charged with Criminal Sale of Cannabis 3rd Degree. She was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
