Wow! A Suffolk County Championship for the Bellport Clippers

Saturday’s game resulted in an uproarious 13-0 victory for Bellport over Lindenhurst, at Stony Brook University, winning the Clippers a Suffolk County Championship.

“It was a defensive hard fought game with the Clippers coming out on top,” said Kevin O’Reilly interim athletic director. “It puts them in line for the Long Island Championship. We’ll be playing Garden City next Saturday at Stony Brook again at noon. This is the first time since 2010 they were able to bring home the Suffolk County championship. It was due to the hard work of the coaching staff and the boys.”

“Lindenhurst is a huge opponent,” added Clippers coach Kai Watkins. “They used to be a Division 1 team but now they are Division 2 and are very successful. The first time we played them, the score was 47-14, we beat them in week four or five. But we knew it would be much more difficult playing at Stony Brook this time around, it’s a much bigger field. We knew it would be a challenge and they were very well coached.”
