New turf baseball fields unveiled

Islip Town supervisor Angie Carpenter, councilmen John Cochrane Jr., James O’Connor and councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen, recently attended the Broadway Avenue Field ribbon cutting in Sayville, to celebrate the installation of new turf infields.

The new fields, installed by The Landtek Group, will be part of a multi-year plan to place more turf fields throughout the Town of Islip to be utilized by a variety of groups, including youth leagues. The field was designed so that leagues at various levels are able to utilize them.

“Families will create lasting memories watching their children play on Broadway Avenue, and we look forward to bringing new fields like this one to communities throughout the town. On behalf of the members of the town board, we’re grateful to our partners at The Landtek Group who helped to make this possible,” said Carpenter.

The standard diamond markings, as well as other markings appropriate for intermediate and Little League play, make the field available for players at any age or skill level. In addition to the new fields, new concrete dugouts, backstops and fencing were installed.
