Councilman Neil Foley (R-5th District), in serving the community and the Town of Brookhaven wanted to commend the Civic Association for their dedication and attention to “quite a number of large-scale efforts in the Blue Point area.”

Foley said that community engagement and positivity was “integral to the shared success” of Blue Point.

Funding was received from the Suffolk County Comptroller in late February.

The Town of Brookhaven is currently developing the construction schedules.

Funding has been secured and plans to remove invasive species are slated for sometime in April with the intention to replant appropriate plant life in May.

The Town of Brookhaven is working with Suffolk County to coordinate efforts as Montauk Highway falls under the purview of the latter.

McGill Pond Status

The Town of Brookhaven will be providing a map of Blue Point Avenue with pole numbers.

Foley has reached out to the Department of Highways to finalize the maps for the decorative lighting.

Waiting on TOB to provide map of BP Ave. with pole numbers.

Mike Firestone, director of the Bayport-Blue Point Library, also gave a presentation on the upcoming library budget and trustee vote.

Ronald Devine, president of the library’s board of trustees, said, “Our library board and staff have worked very hard to provide our community with a world-class regional library that has tremendously exceeded the expectations of our residents and patrons.”

Devine pointed out that the proposed operating budget for 2023-2024 is below the tax levy cap limitations while “still providing essential and superior services to our community.”

He said that “the best is yet to come for our new community library.”
