Last week, the Village of Patchogue Planning Board approved an application for Jardin Café to replace the former NOLE café located at 90 East Main Street. The application included permission to open the restaurant in the D-3 zone and to erect a new wall sign and awning.
Andres Lopez, owner, said the restaurant will be a healthy modern version of light fare. The layout changes, his architect, Ed Silsbe, said, would be minimal but important.
Minor modifications include the addition of bathrooms and reworking the kitchen. The former business, he said, was more of a prepared-foods site, whereas his will be a full restaurant.
He also plans to offer beer and wine on premises with the possibility of live music in the future.
The outdoor seating area will also be maintained, with about 16 seats and possible hanging lights. About 20 staff members will be hired including two to three chefs.
During the meeting, Lopez said he plans to open the business as soon as possible, with weekday hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and weekend hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sundays.
