On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the Rusy-Bohm American Legion Post 411 hosted a ceremony at Islip Veterans Memorial Park next to Islip Town Hall. The event featured speakers from the American Legion Post, Islip Town Council and the Suffolk County Legislature. At 11 a.m., the flag was lowered and then raised again in accordance with the tradition of honoring “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,” which dates back to 1918 and the end of WWI.
