Sayville defeats Kings Park in 57-6 win

On a crisp mid-March evening in Sayville, the Golden Flashes shined as bright as the sun radiated on the South Shore earlier that afternoon.

At the Varsity football match at Timothy J. Henck field on Friday, March 12, Sayville's Golden Flashes locked horns with the Kings Park Kingsmen and the Flashes put on an offensive clinic. With senior quarterback Jake Cheshire under center, Sayville drew first blood and never relinquished the lead: wide receiver Nick Buffardi got the offensive juggernaut going with a 1-yard touchdown reception to cap off the opening drive of the game.

Sayville tore apart the field with one 6-point score after another, and Michael Argenziano persistently kicked it through the uprights.

Alex Millwater ran for a 4-yard score as the doors quickly fell off the hinges; it was 28-0 in the second quarter. CJ Messina's 7-yard touchdown reception added to the plethora of points. And just before the first half expired, Nate Casaburi snagged a 24-yarder in the air. The score was 42-0 by halftime.

The final score was 57-6, with the Golden Flashes defeating the Kingsmen in the first week of football.
