On Saturday, May 4, the Sayville Farmers’ Market began their season that runs until November from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Islip Grange Park on Broadway Avenue.
“Last year our patrons requested more opportunities to eat at the market, so I will be seeking to schedule one to two different food trucks each week,” said market owner Terry Maccarone. “I am still filling slots for the season, but if you monitor our Instagram and Facebook accounts, I will announce each week on there when known.”
In its ninth year, Maccarone has said that his goal continues to be “providing a community-oriented and family-friendly shopping experience while keeping vendor fees to a minimum so that they may provide quality products at a fair price to our South Shore hamlets.”
In addition, Maccarone has welcomed local service and nonprofit organizations to the market each week, “so that they might raise funds and distribute information to the community.”
Maccarone said he was “grateful” to Town of Islip supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Parks Department for their support.
“We hope they will continue to partner with us in coming years to safeguard our ability to provide this wonderful service to local residents,” said Maccarone.
“The Sayville Farmers Market is a treasure in our Town, supporting between 30-40 vendors weekly, for nearly 10 years. The market has a loyal following of regular customers who routinely make a Saturday stop, as well as passersby who simply drop in. This long-standing relationship is a perfect example of what gives the Town of Islip that small, home town feel,” said Carpenter.
Longtime vendor Taylor Kyraciou, of Specialty Sweets LI, whose decadent treats are the stuff of confectionary legend and a must-have weekend indulgence, said, “It’s always a great season with awesome vendors. I love being able to see all my customers in person and chat with them, and also meet other small-business owners! I try to keep my menu updated, so I’m always adding new items.”
