BLUE POINT

Flood of donations follow devastating Blue Point house fire

Posted

On Sunday, March 7, the Bryant family of Blue Point suffered a total loss of their four-bedroom home after a five-alarm fire blazed through their house.

Rescue response teams came from Blue Point, Bayport, Patchogue, North Patchogue and Holbrook. No information is available at this time regarding what started the consuming fire.

Councilman Neil Foley (R-5th District) was on the scene providing comfort to family and neighbors.

“We protect and help our own,” said Foley. “We will make sure the Bryants are helped through this traumatic time.”

A GoFundMe account, started on Monday, March 8, reached well over $50,000 in donations in less than 36 hours, with individual donations typically ranging from $25 to $200, with some over $1,000.

"Let’s  all come together and help this family out during these terrible times," the page, created by Cortney Echevarria,  read. "Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated."
