On Thursday, April 17, the Moriches Bay Garden Club conducted their business meeting at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum Café. They attended a tea at the café after enjoying a walk around the gardens.
The daffodils were on full display in many areas on the grounds, and the magnolias and cherries added spring color to the already beautiful landscape. It was a perfect day for a walk.
Many members also visited the new Welcome Center for the first time. We were able to get some information about the many different trees and plants found at the Arboretum.
After our walk, we attended the tea. The Arboretum Café did not disappoint. There were many different teas to choose from and we enjoyed scones, a variety of sandwiches, and delicious desserts.
One of the items discussed at our meeting was our plant sale fundraiser on April 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Havens House on Montauk Highway, in Center Moriches. The majority of the plants for sale are from our members’ gardens. There is always a wide variety to choose from at very reasonable prices.
On Saturday, May 17, our Garden Club will participate in the Great Brookhaven Cleanup. We will meet at Bank Street Park to pick up garbage and then work our way over to Neville Park. We will finish up in the nearby parking lot. It feels good to work together to help keep our community looking great!
President Patti also reminded the members that our next business meeting is at the Moriches Brewery on Thursday, May 15, at 1 p.m. Bring your lunch, and we will learn how beer is made.
If you are interested in joining us for any of these events, or would like more information about our club, please contact Patti at 631 838-6656, or beachbaby4894@gmail.com. I look forward to telling you more about our garden club.
