From the Islip Fire Department:
"At 5:19 A.M. this morning, the Islip Fire Department and the Exchange Ambulance of the Islips were notified for a report of a car into the water at the Islip Marina on the end of Maple Street off Bayview Ave.
Initial reports came in advising the caller was unsure if anyone was within the vehicle. Mutual aid was then requested from the Bay Shore Fire Department for their dive team to also respond.
First to arrive was 2nd Assistant Chief Ferrari who confirmed with the vehicle owner that all occupants were out of the vehicle and uninjured. Once confirming all occupants were accounted for command cancelled the response from Bay Shore’s dive team.
The crew from Tactical Rescue unit 3-4-14 deployed a surface swimmer to hook the vehicle to a winch cable to remove it from the water before any further environmental impact from fuel leaking from the vehicle into the bay.
The vehicle was dragged out from the water and the scene was then turned over to the Suffolk County Police Department and Town of Islip park rangers."
