Board trustee resigns

Sayville School Board of Education trustee Keith Kolar resigned from his position after serving for nearly 20 years. The board of education is now actively seeking a new trustee to serve Kolar’s remaining term, expiring on May 17, 2022.

According to the school board: “In these challenging times for public education, the board of education is seeking someone who finds excitement and satisfaction in confronting tough challenges and working collegially to rise above them and help students in the Sayville community.”

To be eligible for the position, the applicant must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, a qualified voter in the Sayville School District, be able to read and write and must be a resident of the district for one year.

Applicants cannot be employed by the district or live in the same household with a family member who is on the board of education.

Kolar declined to comment on the reasons for his resignation.
