Bellport grad seeks second Super Bowl ring

1998 Bellport High School grad, Greg Delimitros is the Vice President of Equipment operations for the Philadelphia Eagles. He has 19 years with the team and is hoping to bring home his second Super Bowl ring this Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In his position, Delimitros is responsible for outfitting Eagles players, coaches, and staff, purchasing equipment, and maintaining the team’s locker room facilities at both the NovaCare Complex and Lincoln Financial Field. He also handles the transportation of all the team’s equipment.

After overseeing multiple semi-trucks packed with the necessary practice and game-day equipment, which will hit the road tomorrow, Feb. 2, Delimitros will board a flight with the team this Sunday, Feb. 5 headed to Arizona. The trucks will take about 42 hours to arrive with certified drivers.

“When we land, we are going to take a car to the practice facility and take over for the next week to set up the players, coaches, and staff,” he said.

Delimitros, a Medford native now living in Philly with his wife, Maria, and two kids aged 7 and 2, was the student football manager for three years in Bellport. He then graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Business Management, where he also worked in the equipment rooms as the head student equipment manager, and moved on to West Virginia where he obtained his Master’s in Athletic Coaching Education. There he also served as a graduate football equipment manager for the Mountaineers. He is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association.

Delimitros originally joined the Eagles as an assistant equipment manager from 2004-11 and then served as the head equipment manager from 2012- 14. He also worked as the team’s director of equipment operations from 2015-18. He was promoted to vice president of equipment operations with the Eagles in 2019. Under Delimitros’ leadership, Philadelphia’s equipment staff was named the 2019 New Era NFC Equipment Staff of the Year, he was also awarded the Whitey Zimmerman Award as the NFL Equipment Manager of the Year.

How did he land a job with the Eagles? He said a friend of his got him an interview with his former boss who liked him enough to give him the job on the spot. Within a week he started and hasn’t looked back ever since.

“I love coming to work. Who can wake up every morning, put sweatpants on, and be part of the decision-making?” he joked admiring his job. “This is a phenomenal organization, from the top on down. We all collaborate here.”

His extended family still lives on Long Island and owns the Parlor House Grill in Sayville, where, he said, they will be hosting a Super Bowl watch party cheering on the Eagles.
