Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers are investigating a harassment that occurred at Mary Immaculate Roman Catholic Church, located at 16 Browns Road in Bellport, on March 20.
A woman, who is a congregant at the church, punched another woman, a member of the church, following an argument on March 20 at approximately 7:45 p.m. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is continuing.
According to the father of the church, the incident happened during religious Faith Formation classes. He explained that the coordinator and their secretary were both assaulted by a parent. They were both punched twice in the face and head and sustained bruises as a result.
Code enforcement in the Village of Bellport has also been informed and will be providing extra officers who will patrol the classes. Both women who were assaulted had returned to work.
