9-year-old brings bullet to elementary school

Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers are investigating an incident during which a child brought a bullet to a West Sayville elementary school.

A 9-year-old brought a bullet to Cherry Avenue Elementary School on September 27. The principal was notified and contacted police.

The bullet was memorabilia belonging to a family member and the child did not have criminal intent.

No threats were made. The child’s parents are cooperating with police.

Superintendent Dr. Marc Ferris said, "the Sayville school district is committed to the health safety and well being of all students and will always treat every potential situation with an abundance of caution."
