Run for the Bay
SAYVILLE—The third annual 5K Run for the Bay at the end of Foster Avenue in Sayville on Saturday, April 27 was another huge success. Organized by the Blue Island Oyster Foundation, nearly 400 runners showed up to show they cared about the Great South Bay.
The top male finisher was 18-year-old Tristan Brown-Devirgilio. The top female finisher was Bayport’s own Kim Larson, who set the female record for the course. Proceeds from the race benefit the environmental work of the Blue Island Oyster Foundation and Save the Great South Bay. Volunteers from organizations around town, including the Greater Sayville Civic Association, showed up to cheer on their neighbors at this year’s windswept course.
Ted Cremer’s wonderful photographs made this year’s Run for the Bay a race for the ages! More information on racer placement can be found at this link: http://justfinish.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Overall-3.htm.
