Suffolk County Marathon

The fourth annual Catholic Health Services’ Suffolk County Marathon involved four races on Sunday — the marathon, half marathon, 5k and relay race — beginning and ending in Patchogue Village accompanied by a Freedom Fest. Friends and family cheered runners on as they crossed the finish line. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone participated for the fourth straight year, alongside members of the 106th Rescue Wing of the New York Air National Guard. This year’s race also featured a County Executive’s Cup, a new trophy eligible only to active duty military personnel who participated in the full marathon. Results for the Military Branch that finished with the top score overall will be announced soon. The winners will now take the trophy back to their base until next year’s race.
