Library budgets pass
SUFFOLK COUNTY—On Tuesday, April 10, residents turned out for the annual library budget and trustee vote in their district. All budgets passed.
Here are the results in our reader areas:
The Bayport-Blue Point Library budget was approved 256-42.
Incumbent Stephanie Heineman won the trustee election with 242 votes over 4 others who received 1 vote apiece as a write in.
The library released the following statement to the community: “The Board of Trustees, Director and Staff would like to thank everyone for coming to vote and for supporting your community library. We look forward to serving our patrons during the next year.”
The Connetquot budget passed 214 to 44 no votes. Incumbent Dorothy Roman won the five-year seat with 209 votes and George Kreuscher won a four-year seat with 190 votes.
Library director Kimberly Decristofaro said, after the results were in, “We appreciate the community’s support.”
The budgets take effect July 1, 2018.
