Arrests at sobriety checkpoint

Suffolk County Police have arrested 10 people and seized one vehicle during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue from Friday, May 26 at 11 p.m. to Saturday, May 27 at 2:47 a.m.

 Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department Highway Patrol Bureau, assisted by the New York State Police, conducted a sobriety checkpoint at Waverly Plaza, located at 361 North Service Road in Patchogue.  The operation was conducted as part of the ongoing Memorial Day holiday enforcement activity for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs.  A total of 757 vehicles went through the checkpoint. 

 The following people were charged with driving while intoxicated:

Sally Gil, 52, of 198 Greeley Ave., Sayville

Stephan Spadaro, 31, of 1 Glen Way, Lake Grove

Jason Rudish, 39, of 148 Fordham Ave., Medford

Carmen Russell, 53, of 865 Broadway Ave., Holbrook

Zachary Cassetta, 24, of 620 Lincoln Ave., Sayville

Christopher Rollins, 30, of 245 Broadway Ave., Sayville

Sean McPartland, 50, of 5 Woodmont Court, Holtsville

Richard Reichert, 30, of 4 Shore View Court, Nesconset

Jennifer Hutzel, 31, of 442 Gibbs Pond Rd., Nesconset

Guisseppe Vargas, 43, of 108 Easy St., Sayville

 

Rollins’s vehicle was seized due to a prior DWI conviction. The individuals were arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 27.

A criminal charge is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
