Lady T-Birds put up a good fight
BOHEMIA—Connetquot’s Lady T-Birds played a scrappy game against a very aggressive, sharp-shooting visiting Lindenhurst basketball team on Jan. 27. Coach Hafner’s team was down by just a pair of baskets at the half and tied the score at 30 after three quarters. With 35 seconds left in the game, Connetquot was down by only two points, but the visitors outscored the T-Birds and celebrated a 46-42 win over their hosts.
Madison Jasinski led Connetquot scorers with 11 points, followed by Victoria O’Toole with 10 and Karly Hokenson with six. Alexandra Ehrhardt, Emma Buccini and Victoria D’Archangelis chipped in with five apiece.
Connetquot’s top scorer, Amanda Ehrhardt, went down hard on the last play of the first half and did not finish the game.
The T- Birds drop to 3-12, while Lindenhurst improves to 5-11. Coach Hafner said that his team “played hard for 32 minutes and didn’t quit. We look forward to continued improvement and maturity as the season winds down.” Connetquot’s four seniors have been providing leadership for the 10 underclassmen on the roster, who continue to demonstrate more confidence with each outing.
