On Saturday, April 20, court officers from the 10th Judicial District, Suffolk County, volunteered at the annual Prom Impact drive hosted by the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD). The SCPD holds the Prom Impact event each spring to raise donations of dresses, suits, garments, shoes, and accessories from the local community to help underprivileged juniors and seniors look their best at their upcoming proms.
Always eager to join law enforcement partners to support a good cause, court officers from the Suffolk Courts regularly participate in the SCPD Prom Impact drive. Each year, Suffolk’s court officers spend months ahead of time gathering donations from courthouse colleagues.
Then at the event, they volunteer their time by helping organize and display the plethora of donations and by assisting the youths in choosing their outfits.
The 2024 SCPD Prom Impact drive was a great success, where students from over 60 local high schools attended the event to select their prom attire. Such success would not have been realized without the dedicated help of the following officers of New York’s Unified Court System: Maj. Karen Morro, Maj. Denise Zeitler, Capt. Tony Amado, Capt. Sonia Alvarez, Lt. Regina Rutigliano, Sgt. Evelyn Portes, Sgt. Celeste Forde, Officer Taralee Fleming, Officer Kerry Worgul, Officer Clarissa Rowe, and Officer Maria Spennato.
Undoubtedly, these court officers played a special part in making this year’s prom an unforgettable experience for many local high schoolers.
