Bayport-Blue Point staff member tests positive for COVID-19

A staff member in the Bayport-Blue Point School District has tested positive for coronavirus, according to a letter sent by Superintendent Timothy Hearney on Thursday. The letter is below:

Dear BBP community,
I have been notified that a Bayport-Blue Point staff member, assigned to Academy Street Elementary School, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff member has not been in the building since early last week. The Department of Health Services is conducting an investigation and will notify anyone who they feel may have had contact with someone who has been exposed. As stated in previous communications, the district began additional deep cleaning of each building weeks before the employee was feeling ill. I ask that you please respect confidentiality laws at this time.
Please remember to use good hygiene, wash hands thoroughly and often, and stay away from group gatherings. This is an unprecedented time and I will continue to communicate with you regularly regarding pertinent health and educational matters.
